Why is it that every time I rub my eyes, I see the spirals in black and white?

So exactly what my question says, every time I rub my eyes, I see the circles in hypnotic black and white. About 4-5 of them at the same time. Seem http://www.hypnosis.com.au/images/stories/hypnosis-spirals/blackwhitespiral.gif if you do not know what I'm talking about. I will continue until I stop seeing them rubbing their eyes. Oh, and also, both my eyes are closed at the same time in order for me to see them. I can also achieve the same effect if you press on both of my eyes. What is this, and what are the causes?
