why doesn’t the VA pay for alternative sources of pain management such as acupuncture, massage, chiropractor ?

Gary that,s not true they are slowing switching over to more and more holistic styles of therapy. I’ve been using chiro and accu for my injuries for years and it does give some relief. From what I have been told is that the individual must prove a need for these forms of medical treatment and be service connected.

Acupuncture, Massage, and Chiropractic therapy are all proven methods of pain management, as well as other medical uses, and have been used in Eastern cultures for centuries. Acupuncture, Massage, Chiropractic Therapy and other “Alternative” medicine are meant to treat the cause of the pain as well as the symptom, whereas pharmacuetical pain medication treats mainly the symptom.The problem is that the Western medical community only approves of Pharmaceutical (drug) methods of pain management and medicine.
