How do you hear from God / God you drive?

Can anyone please tell me how do you hear from God? Obviously not an audible voice, but it will be that quiets the mind as with the music etc and then maybe ask for one thing and then wait for a feeling to know / the answer pop into your mind? or is that not correct? Also, how do you know thats its from God and not your mind subconscious or another source-for example what is the difference of being "heard" by God and some quiet the mind in Meditation, for example, and receiving / "hearing" from their subconscious or even evil spirits, the technique is the same or different and how do I know if its from God or not? Can a person continue to receive guidance from God if you havn't yet received the Holy Spirit or you only after receiving what can happen? Is it depends on whther a person has a hot / mary open heart and closed / frozen or not and whatever else you can think of Thankyou in advance
