For those who consider themselves "enlightened", how come?
Can only be lit after many many hours of Meditation ? Eckhart Tolle said to him was during a very severe case of depression, suicide, almost all once. Sri Ramana Maharshi said that he was terrified and obsessed with his death. So he lay on the floor, closed his eyes and pretended to be dead. In Somehow he found out through this that the death had been afraid it was just his physical death, but that he would go away. And that was lighted by then. This also seemed to happen all at time. Some tell me they think it has become enlightened through NDE. That also suggests that it was all at once. How did you become enlightened, and was all at once or after many years of meditation , and there is a way to speed up the process and we have no control over when that happens?
This is the position term that the Buddha discovered and exposed, giving rise to the vision and knowledge, which leads to peace, wisdom, enlightenment, and Nibbana - the Noble Eightfold Path: 1. Right Understanding: of suffering, its origin, its cessation, the path leading to the cessation of suffering. 2. Right Intention: to surrender, free from desire; of good will, free from hatred, compassion, free from cruelty. 3. Right Speech: abstaining from false speech, abstaining from the word "evil" and to refrain from the speech hard to refrain from unnecessary conversation. 4. Right Action: abstaining from taking life, abstaining from stealing, abstaining from sexual misconduct. 5. Right Livelihood: giving up wrong livelihood, makes his living by a right form of livelihood. 6. right effort: to prevent unhealthy unarisen bad moods arising from doing hard work, stirring up energy and to exercise the mind. 7. Right mindfulness: mindful contemplation of the body, mindful contemplation of feelings, contemplation, conscious of the mind, mindful contemplation of mental objects. 8. Right Concentration: Quite far from sensual pleasures, secluded from unwholesome states of mind one enters and dwells in jhana first (meditative absorption), which is accompanied by applied thought and sustained thought with enthusiasm and happiness comes from solitude. http://www.buddhanet.net/
